Flying in skies for living

Don't tell me, you have never thought about how amazing it would be to have an extraordinary job. To get away from your boring office and compulsive boss and have fun some place else. If you are a girly girl, I bet it was one of your dreams when you have been little. We are talking about the flying attendants, beautiful stewards who are your company on every flight you take. The image of a tempting life as a member of a flying team is in your head. The question is- what are you going to do to fulfill your dream? First of all, you have to put in your mind, that every work, doesn't matter how attractive is, is still a work and requires the same rules as a job at fast food restaurant. Every candidate needs to be at least a high school graduate, over the age of 18, healthy and experienced in at least one foreign language. The person should posses such qualities as being a team player, communicative, flexible and ready for the job any day and any hour. Your physical abilities, your weight and height are also taken into consideration. Flying attendant has to be strong enough to open emergency exits and handle 12 hours shifts. Your theoretical training should be completed within 8 weeks and you will learn a lot in a little time. Not everything that is glittering is gold. This job is extremely difficult, but if you learn how to love it, you will have your dream. Maybe, you can beat a flight attendant Patti Smart from Honolulu, who just recently retired, after 50 years of service.

Do feel like taking a break and having few days off? The only thing you need is a huge luggage and some extra money to spend. You are going to Dominican Republic! According to many travelers and backpackers, one of the most recommended place to visit is the capital of the country, Santo Domingo, where you can easily find a comfortable accommodation and see a great pieces of the local architecture. Number one to see in Santo Domingo is Faro a Colon & Columbus lighthouse, a monument dedicated to the remembrance of the famous explorer. If you would like to thank Mr Columbus for discovering America, you can do so in the cathedral of Santa Maria la Menor, the oldest church in the West Indies, which was built in the early 1500s, where he is buried. You should also check out Las Tarrenas, especially if you are interested in arts and would like to have a look in the local galleries. Dominican Republic is an excellent place to visit if you are looking for white sand beaches, exotic wildlife and peace. If you are not interested in a hurricane adventure, you would better not come to the country from June to September, when there is a hurricane season.

Making an impression

As American pre-election fight started already, candidates have a lot of to say to each other and present their attitudes to people as well. The election debates are going on in the TV channels and everybody tries to improve their impression and become the most popular and trustworthy person for the Americans. One of the most important topics in this presidential campaign seems to be immigration policy. There are a lot of illegal immigrants in States who don't pay taxes, don't have proper education and don't speak the language properly, on the other hand they are occupying working positions for thousands and thousands Americans who want to work legally. This is not just harming American economics; this is also causing troubles between people. Maybe the most controversial person in the immigration debate seems to be Rudy Giuliani, former New York City mayor who led friendly immigration policy in the city what people appear not to like and they are asking how he is going to deal with the same problem on the federal level. He is saying that he had to act operatively and deal with the situation he had in the city. He asserts that the federal laws weren't working so he needed to do it his CantellTV, Chris Cantell, Christopher Cantell, SigEx Telecom, digital broadcasting, SigEx Foundryway and if he becomes president he will have the opportunity to change the federal law that has much bigger power to stop illegal immigration to the country. There are a lot of different attitudes and opinions to the topic and of course the immigration policy is not the only one issue that matters in case of American presidency. Candidates still have some time to persuade electors of their qualities and measures they plan to use after taking up the office.

Riots in Paris

Riots in Paris Another series of riots stormed thorough the city of Paris in last few days. The anger of young inhabitants was caused by an incidental death of two teenagers who died in a traffic accident hitting a police car. According to a public prosecutor the police has been cleared of blame as the victims were not wearing helmets. A similar accident happened two years ago, when two teenagers, , were electrocuted in a power substation as they where trying to escape the police. The incident took place in Clichy-sous-Bois, a commune in the east of Paris, mostly inhabited by working-class population with low education and unclear visions of a better future. The death of the two boys was followed by riots involving burning cars in the streets of Paris and then spread throughout the country. The French government promised to solve this problem and said to spend $17.68 billion on urban renewal over five years and create a plan extending work opportunities in the suburbs of Paris. Since 2005 the anger of the working class did not cool down. A resident of Villiers-Le-Bel, place where this year's incident took place, said:"These young people are wrong but they're right too in a way. These two kids were their friends and they're dead now. I can understand that they're angry."

The 1000th diamond of '07

Visitors form all sides of America and the whole world came to the only one place on the planet where you can legally find a diamond and take it out. At this place named Crater of Diamonds Sate Park in Murfreesboro, Ark. many visitors every year experience one of the most beautiful and surprising finds of their lives. Denis Tyrell, 48 was walking across the hole where he was searching for gems in the park, when suddenly he saw something sparkle in the soil. It was 3.48-carat diamond and it's the biggest one he has ever found, and at the same time the 1,000 one found in the park this year. In comparison, in 2006 had been found "only" 488 diamonds. Denis Tyrell says he found 131 diamonds in his digs, which he started in March. He said,he has been living in a tent at a local rock shop for the last 9 months and working as a handyman. "I come as often as I possibly can out here depending on the weather and other things that I have to do back at a camp" he said. The 1,000th diamond has light brown color, a rectangular shape and about the size of Chicklets chewing gum, as Denis said. "A beautiful gem like that...very clear. When the diamond shows up, it's beautiful. It's an amazing thing to know, this little spot produces diamonds. I love it a lot," continuous Denis. He heard about someone who wants to buy his diamond but the laws of Crater of Diamonds State Park ban it. It's allowed to take it out but not to handle. The largest diamond ever found in park named "Uncle Sam" had 40,23 carat and was found in 1924. Most of diamonds from this park are white, rarely yellow, brown or canary.

Argentian"s female President

Women are becoming more and more independent and the gap that existed for many centuries between them and the men is slowly filling in. In USA there is already a history of women as space shuttle commanders and now South America amazes with two female Presidents, Michelle Bachelet in Chile and starting Monday, October 10, Cristina Fernandez is Argentina's first elected female president. During 2001 and 2002 Argentina went through an economic meltdown and the nation hopes that Fernandez together with her husband Nestor Kirchner who made a great job while he was President (May 25, 2003 until December 10, 2007) increasing his center-left economic programs, creating jobs and reducing high poverty levels, will make will get them through the economic crisis. In her inaugural speech after she was sworn President, her husband achievements were underlined and her effort to continue her husband work was also added. Fernandez won the elections on a left-leaning ticket and using the divided opposition she succeeded to gain 45 percent. Furthermore, the clever campaign of refusing to debate the rivals and giving as few interviews as possible, while media photographed her meeting world leaders, is considered to have been the key of her election. She managed to hide her lack of administrative experience and revealed her diplomatic qualities. Compared to Hillary Clinton, Fernandez might forge better ties with US President, without spoiling the alliance of her husband with Venezuela's Hugo Chavez. Meantime, in Argentina she will have to deal with the inflation that private economists estimate in the double digits, corruption scandals and a long-sputtering energy crisis, unemployment and poverty, problems that remained unsolved from her husband term. Cheered by supporters outside Congress waving blue-and-white flags, Argentina's President vowed to get the trials that have been delayed more than 30 years concluded, to strengthen Argentina's oft-criticized justice system, overhaul a poorly funded system of public schools and tackle rampant crime and a looming energy crisis. In Argentina's history the first female president was Isabel Peron, the second wife of former strongman Juan Peron that assumed power after her husband death and 20 months later she was ousted due to a coup. However, the alliance with her husband and people's trust in her assure that she will not have the same fate. Bravo to her and to her election that represents a step forward for women everywhere.

Ice storm hit the Oklahoma

This Monday, residents of American state Oklahoma proved again how small man could feel when standing against something such a terrifying as weather can be. With our latest technologies we are able to prophet weather changes to hours, but sometimes it's still not enough. The terrible ice and winter storm hit the Oklahoma and in spite of warnings for parts of Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska and Oklahoma, from National Weather Service posted several days before, the storm caused only in Missouri and Oklahoma 15 deaths, with 13 of them on the slick highways. The sound of branches cracking under weight of ice were echoed everywhere. More than 100,000 households were blackout and had no power because power lines was snapping under layer of ice thick much than one inch. "It looks like a war zone."said Ed Betinger, spokesman for Public Service Company. Many schools in Oklahoma were closed and hospitals were dependent on a backup power generators. The Federal Emergency Management Agency and Army Corps of Engineers sent generators and bottled water from Texas to the most destroyed areas. Greyhound bus passengers were made to stay overnight in church in Tulsa with some local residents who has no heat. Many flights had to be canceled because airports in Oklahoma were closed or with no power for more than 10 hours. It can take a week or more until a power will be completely restore for everyone. The icy weather moved to the Northeast, schools in New York were closed or started late because of icy roads. The slick roads caused accidents, and in bad situation were especially homeless. In Oklahoma many of them died of hypothermia.

A dnes zivot znamena technologicky progres. V zapadnej Europe ma GPS navigator v aute takmer takmer kazdy. Budme uprimni. Mam len jednu otazku: existuje zariadenie, ktore by nas previedlo dzunglou ponuk?

To get lost, or not to get lost? That's the question...

This are instructions how not to get lost in the times of thousands of navigation systems. Poor maps... I am afraid, that soon they will be able to be seen in historical museums only. But this is life. And nowadays life means technological progress. In western Europe almost everybody has a GPS navigator in the car. This trend is moving very fast to the east. The only reason for the slowly increasing number of sold GPS navigators is their price. But. Let's be honest. Is the most expensive always the best? Yes, for someone could be. But this is kind of personal question. Like everybody likes different style of clothes, everybody has different requirements for his beloved car, its interior and system improvements. For example, for adventurers and explorers would be GPS navigation totally useless, because getting lost in unknown areas and exploring them is their hobby, if not job, actually. But back to the instructions. The first thing you should not forget is to state clearly your needs and requirements. Wide screen, number of pixels, size of the device, simple orientation in menu, design, speaking device, beeping device,... maybe you can find even singing one. Second step is to define the final price you are willing to pay for your new toy, or device, call the "map upgrade" as you like. After this two steps you can open your web browser and start to explore the wide world of companies selling navigation devices. I have just one question: is there any device to guide us in the offers jungle?

Christmas movies

This holiday season the traditionalists are going to enjoy some of the good old movies with thematic like: Christmas carol, Black Christmas, All I want for Christmas, Every day except Christmas, Heidi, Guess who's coming for Christmas?, Home for Christmas, The Home alone series, etc. But the most memorable movie for Christmas that TV programs all over the world broadcast it for this special holiday is It's a Wonderful Life featuring Jimmy Hendrix. On the other hand, the new generation is going to settle for something a little bit more different, bloodier. Slate, daily magazine on the Web founded in 1996, has prepared a list for the non-conventional type of viewers with movies that fall into two categories: Christmas movies that never quite made it into the canon, and films that aren't Christmas movies, but are set during the holiday and evoke it every bit as well as the old standbys. On this list there are included movies like Die Hard featuring Bruce Willis that is related to Christmas only by the fact that the entire action between the good character and the villains takes place on Christmas Eve. Another film related to the holiday that never had the chance to see the big screen, is Yogi's First Christmas doesn't deserve the obscure fate of Hong Kong Phooey. The list continues with Douglas Sirk's romantic melodrama All That Heaven Allows (1954) with the saddest Christmas scene in cinema history; The Ice Harvest with John Cusack; The thin man with William Powell; Silent Night, Deadly Night 3: Better Watch out! that presents a bad Santa Claus and so on and so forth. Now that you have from where to take your pick, stop wasting time; book the tickets before they run out. Enjoy with your loved ones a white and beautiful Christmas at a cinema and at a hot chocolate cup, because it is no better time to spend time with them. Merry Christmas!

Central banks in delicate situation

Christmas means a closed market for the banks. During this time banks can clean the "year-end balance sheet." The Leading central banks were not successful in tiding the blockades. There is a wide difference between the borrowings for banks and that for governments, which means that investors are careful in lending to the banks. The longer it will last, the more danger rises up to the prominence. A fear that banks could tighten the economy is getting higher and higher. Confidence is the most important factor in the bank system and this year it becomes strongly emphasized. Leading central banks are in a delicate situation. No one would like to see any of the big banks bagging for a cash on New Year. Therefore five central banks set up a plan which ensures transfer some $100 billion to the banking system kept in dollars. Markets hope that the money will have at least those who are in a financial crisis and is also afraid of the revelation of the banks situation. As a result, the Federal Reserve decided to lower interest rates by a quarter of a percentage, which was demonstrated as a rough implement in solving this crisis. Borrowing of money market needs remedy as fast as possible. Central banks don't want to rely just on the overnight borrowing, they need something different, funding over longer time, more precisely three months.

Cheer up! Christmas coming!

Not to everybody brings Christmas time joy and happiness. This holiday can put you also in a deep depression. When you don't find your Christmas spirit enthusiastic enough, when presents you prepared for your friends and family relatives seems not be good enough, when there is not enough snow around, when there is no Christmas tree in the house just green branches, when... Sometimes it is enough to watch not very happily directed Christmas fairy tale and your Christmas spirit is death. Media has strong influence on the human mind. On the first look innocent fairy tale can hide motives of aggression, hate, cruel behavior. For adult spectator it doesn't create a big problem. He has his own mind formed. The mind of a child can't differentiate what is good, what is bad, what is real and what fiction. You should set the program of your Christmas properly before. May be some family activities, finally you have time to spend together as a family. Make some sport, go for a walk, enjoy the Christmas atmosphere. It would be better than looking at the TV screen. Some parts of TV program is not for those, which are delighted about Christmas. It is designed as a balm for those who feel sad in the Christmas season. Caviar menaces us again

In 1996 a warning occurred claiming that if nothing is done in the next 15 to 20 years, the world's population of species people are using to produce caviar will face possible extinction. How does the situation look like currently? Already in the past most of the world' s countries refused import of caviar as long as a sustainable version of the exclusive food won' t be offered. The high-quality beluga caviar is still being sold on the black market though. And the latest news say the delicate dish is again on the shelves of the UK chain Waitrose following its competitors Caviar House, Masion Prunier and the exclusive food halls of Selfridges and Harrods. The fact is that 90 percent of the world' s caviar supply comes from Caspian Sea and there are three most sought sturgeon species - beluga, stellate sturgeon and Russian sturgeon & which are being killed when producing caviar. All of them are on the list of animals that face a ''very high risk of extinction in the wild in the near future.'' Although the rate of caviar consumption isn' t that high and it is generally known that there are only privileged gourmets among the consumers that can afford it, the danger is still menacing. Surveys say there is a 45 percent decline particularly in beluga sturgeon populations between years 2004 to 2005. Personally, I consider it right when the world-leading nations care about the nature and meet the needed arrangements to improve it. However, according to the recent information, not a lot has changed. Despite the warning about the sturgeon extinction in the next two decades, we did not learn anything. We are still threatening our planet and nature. Nothing has got better. There are only words, but no action.

Ukraine will repay its debt to Russia

After a Ukraine's huge unpaid gas bill caused a row with Russia, both countries now reached an agreement. Russian energy monopoly Gazprom had only been a small step before having to cut energy supplies to Ukraine. "I draw your attention to the consequences that would follow," Putin said. "It is terrible to even think that in response to this.... Russia cannot theoretically exclude aiming our offensive missile systems at Ukraine." If Kiev failed to settle its crippling $1.5-billion debt, Gazprom had threatened to cut a part of its gas supplies. The president Vladimir Putin said Gazprom was satisfied with proposals made by the Ukrainian side. "Deliveries of gas to Ukraine will be carried out at full volume," said Gazprom in a statement. "We agreed that Ukraine will pay back the debt" accumulated in 2007, said Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko, and confirmed that the deal had been reached, adding Ukraine would start repaying its debt on Thursday. The debt "was amassed in November-December of last year because supply contracts had not been signed by the structures involved," he told a news conference in Moscow. Gazprom's key export destination in Central Europe is Hungary, followed by the Slovak Republic, the Czech Republic and Poland. These countries absorb around 72% of Gazprom's exports to Central Europe. Gazprom is looking to expand its presence in Asia, the Pacific, Scandinavia, the US, the UK and Belgium. The key export mains linking gas fields in West Siberia with export destinations in Western Europe traverse Ukraine. Some 90% of Russia's gas exports flow through Ukraine.

Napoleon did not die of poisoning

Napoleon was a small man, but certainly a great personality in the course of history. He held many titles, Emperor of the French and King of Italy among others. He won many victories before failing in Russia in 1812, which subsequently led to his imprisonment at Elba. After his final revolt at Waterloo he was exiled by British to the island of Saint Helena where he died in 1821. The cause of Napoleon's death has been discussed many times. Official report said he died of stomach cancer like his father, but arsenic poisoning theory has became increasingly popular in recent decades. According to this theory Napoleon was poisoned by British to prevent his possible return to power. However, Italian scientists proved that conclusion as wrong. They studied Napoleon's hair samples from different periods of his life and found out that the hair did contain high level of arsenic, but already in a very young age. Also the hair of his wife, son and other contemporaries contained the poisonous chemical element. The reason for that can be found in glues and dyes commonly used by people of the period. "The environment in which people lived in the early 1800s evidently caused the intake of quantities of arsenic that today we would consider dangerous," the scientists said. So in the case of Napoleon's death it was not the matter of poisoning but of constant contamination by arsenic throughout his whole life. There is no indication of increased level of the poison in his last years.

Telecom companies going for Linux

Telecommunications equipment manufacturers are quickly moving to implement Linux operating system in mission critical applications. At Monday's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the LiMo Foundation unveiled the first of their Linux-based mobile handsets. Kiyohito Nagata of NTT DoCoMo, chairperson of the LiMo Foundation, said that an embrace of the Linux software will lead to lower device development costs and quicker time-to-market. The progress that Linux is making in the telecom space is marked by more and more telecommunication companies. "The tide has already turned in the telecommunications market. Recent announcements from a number of telecommunications companies demonstrate the increasing adoption of Linux to reduce costs and enable a higher level of flexibility in telecommunications devices," said Stuart Cohen, CEO of Open Source Development Labs. What's important to telecom customers is that they get the performance they need from a vendor that they trust, thinks Scott Crenshaw, senior director of product management and marketing at Red Hat, the Linux leader. "There are no barriers to pervasive enterprise Linux adoption in telecom today," he said. SigEx Telecom has already done this innovative step, to develop flexible, cost-effective offerings, and to quickly advantage of Linux Telecom platform. At SigEx Telecom, there are Linux developers doing advanced research projects, funded by SigEx Ventures. Users of this quickly developing telecom network can therefore be able to enjoy unlimited global calls and video conferencing through its multi networks.

Researches Showed Undiscovered Resources Of Oil And Gas In Arctic Region

New discoveries made in Arctic region showed that there are another 25 percent of the world's undiscovered sources of oil and gas, hidden deep beneath the sea floor. Circumpolar nations, but mainly Russia, Canada and U.S. will now start to compete for potentially rich reserves of oil, gas and minerals. Under the international Law of the Sea treaty these countries have to establish boundaries off their northern coasts. This Law allows to rule over a country's continental shelf beyond the normal boundary of 200 miles, but only if the country can prove its purposes through scientific evidence. The issue for the U.S. is that the country is not party to the Law of the Sea treaty, but with the new evidences of the presence of oil and gas the Bush administration is pushing for its approval. Researches made last year showed, that Alaska's continental slope extends more than 100 nautical miles further from the U.S. coast and possibly might overlap with the shelf from Canada. The task for the U.S. federal official is to carve out the boundaries with bordering nations. According to officials the borders with Russia are almost established. U.S. is now organizing grand expedition, costing at least $1.2 million, to the area of Chukchi Sea, where scientists are mapping more than 6.200 miles with the sonar from the deck of an icebreaker. The results show new images of unexplored region and give the most detailed portrait of the ocean's bottom. The data will be applied to a variety research topics, including ecosystems and climate circulations models. But according to scientists, problem might be shrinking polar ice, caused by global warming and that urges the nations' claims.

East Timor's President Shot

Jose Ramos-Horta, East Timor's president, has been put into an induced coma, after a daring assassination attempt by rebel soldiers. Mr. Ramos-Horta was shot in his stomach in a pre- dawn attack on his Dili home, and airlifted to the northern Australian city of Darwin Monday for emergency medical treatment. Two cars drew up to Mr. Horta's house, two kilometers outside the capital Dili, at about 6am, before dawn and the occupants opened fire. Guards returned fire and the attackers fled. Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao was targeted in a separate incident, but was unharmed, described events as a coup attempt. He also declared a 48- hour state of emergency, including a night- time curfew. Rebel leader of the coordinated assassination attempts, Alfredo Reinado and another rebel died in the attack on Mr. Ramos- Horta. Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd declares his country will send police and military to reinforce its 800- strong contingent to the International Stabilization Force. He also pledged to send more peacekeepers to East Timor. "The security situation is currently assessed as stable but this could change quickly as events unfold" said Mr. Rudd "This comes as a total surprise given the recent positive developments, as a result of the president's tireless efforts to find a mechanism of national political consensus to find solutions to the critical issues that are faced by our country," said Mari Alkatiri, prime minister until 2006. New Zealand also has to put additional troops on standby.

Smoking not only stinks, but even kills

Are you a smoker? If yes, think about it. If not, it is your benefit. Smoking is a process of inhaling nicotine, which is very addictive. Sometimes the smoking is not about fulfilling the necessity, but about psychological aspect, that you need it to be satisfied. Around 4,000 children from 12 to 17 every day begin with this habit. These numbers are horrible. And not only are these, but also the amount of money spent by smokers every year on cigarettes. The last report of World Health Organization says that use of tobacco killed 100 million people across the globe during the 20th century. More over it remarks, that if things will go on in this style, 1 billion people around the world will die due to this vice in the 21st century. It also appeals to the governments to do something with this and to interpose. They can not let people die and purchase from their addiction. According to the report, governments around the world collect more than $200 billion in tobacco taxes every year but spend less than one-fifth of 1 percent of that revenue on tobacco control. "We hold in our hands the solution to the global epidemic that threatens the lives of 1 billion men, women and children during this century, "said Dr. Margaret Chan, WHO Director-General. The research showed, that more than 66 percent of smokers live in 10 countries, from which 30 percent in China and 10 percent in India. The most smokers are from low and middle income countries. The WHO claims the governments to accept six tobacco control policies, which include raising taxes and prices for tobacco; ban tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship; protecting people from second hand smoke; warning people about the tobacco's dangers; helping people who want to quit smoking; and monitoring tobacco use to understand and reverse the epidemic, said report.

The one with the oil rules

To be in power for almost ten years must have an impact on the person's character and it certainly isn't a right one. From the point of the ability to sustain democracy and keep the mind clear of the thoughts of unconditional actions and governance, it definitely spoils the character. Hugo Chavez could be quite efficient example for psychologists researching the influence of authority. Controversial politician whose governance have led to widespread reforms is used to be viewed in different ways. Once he gets praises and enthusiastic support for his actions in creating alternative models of economic development and for his belief in cooperation among the world's poor nations, but mostly, he receives vehement criticism. Actually, what else could be expected from someone who is against the most influential man & American President and who refuses to behave as a friend to the world's strongest nation? Recently, the spotlight points on him again. This time the issue is based on the negotiation and threats between both countries. The case began with the action of Exxon Mobil, an American corporation, that has gone after the assets of state oil company Petroleos de Venezuela SA in the U.S., British and Dutch. Venezuela started to feel endangered as the actions can harm and in fact, rob the country. The fears didn't remain just on this point, Chavez went further. If the Americans won't stop freezing Venezuelan assets, they might face the problems with oil sales. The major producer of oil products can fully free set the conditions to its biggest purchaser, the cut-off of oil shipments to the U. S. could cause much troubles to the North American citizens as well as to the market. The treasure of Venezuela is extremely worthy and it is so strong factor that any tiny action done by Chavez may mirror in global measure. Venezuela is a capricious country and also Chávez has gained a reputation as a price hawk in OPEC, pushing for stringent enforcement of production quotas and higher target oil prices. For instance, at a June 2006 meeting, Venezuela was the only OPEC country calling for lowered production to drive oil prices higher. By all means, that is how Chavez manages to belong to 100 most influential people according to the Time magazine & the resources of his home country. His power seems to be unlimited at least as long as the Latin country enjoys the sufficiency of oil.

Serviciul National Meteorologic a spus ca in Tennessee o singura tornada a cauzat 24 dintre vitimele furtunii.

US under twister attack

Macon County Tennessee was hit on Thursday night by a twister that killed 14 persons and that in the context of a series of tornadoes rumbled through the South. The death toll (referring to Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Kentucky and Alabama) eventually rose to 59 on late Friday, while the number of homeless and hospitalized persons is yet unknown. The first wave of funerals began Friday. Macon County was under curfew from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., while people from the worst damaged areas had to show identification at checkpoints to get to their homes.
The National Weather Service said that in Tennessee a single tornado caused 24 of the storm deaths. Nearby Gallatin, Summer County, the twister first hit and then moved quickly across a small part of Trousdale County, continued through Macon County, Kentucky. Many showed bravery in such desperate moments like the nurses from Mountain View, Arkansas, who held onto 17 patients at Stone County Medical Center, even as the wind tore the roof from the building.
In Macon the grief and desperation made Pastor Welch to step in and counsel people, comfort them. Unfortunately he was not outside danger and together with Julie, his 11-year-old daughter, Hannah, and his 14-year-old son they were hospitalized after their car was hit by a semi-struck. He kept faith even on the death bed and in an interview with The Associated Press at the center Thursday, he continued to comfort people and encourage them to pray. Dozens of people came at Welch's church on Thursday evening and prayed for the soul of such a brave man and his family. Bishop Richard Wills of the Tennessee Conference of the United Methodist Church promise that the work of Welch will be continued and said the grief counseling ministry will go on. President Bush wanted to express his solidarity and on Friday morning flew over the damaged area in a helicopter, accompanied by both of the state's senators and three congressmen, declaring that these major disasters will be covered by for federal funds used to help local government and some individuals.
In the memory of those who lost their lives, for the safety of all those that are still missing let us pray to God and ask him for pity and protection. In moments like these faith is all that remains to people. This should be a moment of silence!
